BOTH WRISTS HELD THROW - "RYOTE MOCHI SOKUMEN NAGE"
UKE: Grip both wrists held downward with right foot forward.
DEF: Rotate left open hand to palm upward across front to right over Uke's forearm as extend right hand forward (can press left elbow onto Uke's forearm as right hand grips Uke's right sleeve or forearm from outside), move left foot forward behind Uke with left elbow thrust to throat, 'hook' throat with back of elbow and then 'flip' left forearm over face as hips rotate left (around own centre to unbalance Uke to left) to throw Uke backwards to floor.
Note: in serious confrontation can aim left elbow smash at Uke's left cheek to initiate defence, continue with quick left hip rotation to throw.
RAISED WRISTS HELD DEFENCE - "KOTE MAWASHI NIKYO"
UKE: Grip both wrists held upward as right foot steps forward.
DEF: Left foot forward as left elbow reaches straight forward over Uke's right forearm toward Uke's right ear and left hand rotates right (palm inward) bringing left hand to tight hand (do not turn upper body away from facing straight at Uke), grip back of Uke's right hand fingers (esp. little finger) with right hand as rotate own left palm upward onto own right cheek and left elbow press Uke's elbow down toward centre as body weight shifts straight forward toward Uke's centre with walking stance.
Note: if Uke's grip is very strong, can initiate defence by redirecting both hands palms inward together to right (or left) and then step around hands to complete the technique.
FRONT CHOKE DEFENCE No. TWO - "KUBI SHIMAE KOTE MAWASHI NIKYO"
UKE: Grip throat with both hands as right foot forward.
DEF: Reach right hand up between Uke's hands and press Uke's right wrist inward onto own upper chest as pull wrist toward own neck, press chin down on hand, move right foot back to sparring stance as shrug left shoulder far upward, swing left sword- arm over Uke's forearm and down in large circular motion, rotate wrist to right with right hand grip, grip Uke's wrist from above with left hand, pivot left and push body straight toward Uke's centre with walking stance, keep Uke's arm in "S" bend toward floor, 'wringing' hand grips in opposite directions.
Note: If Uke releases grip on neck at beginning of defence, rotate his elbow upward and over with left hand as rotate his right hand with right hand all the way down to pin arm to floor straight out from the shoulder, place left knee against inside of armpit, left knife hand pressing through upper elbow joint and right hand pressing back of hand inward and forward on floor. Can also place Uke's forearm on right knee or foot if required for extra leverage.
* HAIR HELD TAKE DOWN - "NIKYO" VARIATION (optional)
UKE: Grab hair on top of head with right hand as right foot steps forward.
DEF: Press Uke's right wrist onto head with right hand, supported by left hand, step right foot far back and pull downward on wrist toward floor as body leans forward in large 'bowing' movement; twist wrist to right and push up on underside of elbow with left palm to rotate elbow around for 'Nikyo' pin if Uke lets go of hair.
Note: if situation requires, can also strike back of elbow with left forearm as body turns right and right hand presses back of Uke's right hand onto head
WRISTS HELD FROM BEHIND CONTROL - "USHIRO TEKUBl-TORI SANKYO"
UKE: Grip both wrists held downward from behind.
DEF: Extend both arms down and forward with body weight (lower entire body weight slightly) and then curl open hands inward as push butt slightly backwards, withdraw right foot across Uke's front as grip back of Uke's left hand with right hand, press left wrist against Uke's fingers as pivot entire body right on both feet to face straight at Uke's front, bring hands to front of chest 45° upward, 'cut' Uke's elbow through his near ear, keeping both hands close to own chest as withdraw left foot to sink body weight slightly, aiming hands toward own retreating right foot.
Note: full control pin from Sanko take down id extremely dangerous for Uke and should be learned at Yellow Belt or above level.
EXTENSION 'CORNER' DROP - "SUMI OTOSHI'
UKE: Right hand grip left wrist (or sleeve) downward with right foot forward.
DEF: Step left as extend left hand down behind Uke and press right open hand onto forearm near elbow, step right foot forward behind Uke's right side downward extension (both arms straight) to 'blind spot' on floor.
Can also rotate left hand counter-clockwise onto Uke's right wrist before extension, or rotate and grip Uke's sleeve before extension.
